The Best Spots for a Drink in Newcastle

Some visitors love to snap photographs to remember their unforgettable time in Newcastle. So, do you want to know where you can get the best Instagram shots? Here are the best places in Newcastle to have a drink and also get a few snaps while you're there.

Lettuce and Slug

The chain bar's second location in Newcastle opened in late 2019. Slug & Lettuce pubs around the UK have undergone substantial renovations in the last few years, changing them from gloomy, forgotten places into some of the most "must-see" Instagram destinations.

The newest Slug & Lettuce is on Grainger Street, where Yates used to be, and the interiors are designed with birdcage booths, neon lights, flower chairs, and cocktail trees, all of which are inspired by hashtags and filters. Although it is not for everyone, it is a fantastic spot to go for a girls' night out or hen weekend when photo opportunities and inexpensive drinks are the top priority.

All Bar One

If you want to try something new, several suggestions sprinkled for you are across the drinks menu. At All Bar One, you'll never be short of new drinks to sample. The Blossom Birdcage Sharer serves up to four people in a lovely floral birdcage if you prefer only to have drinks.

The menu includes a well-balanced variety of lunch, main meals, and desserts, as well as nutritious power items if you're feeling extra healthy. On the other hand, the breakfast has something for everyone, with an excellent range of classic meals that would be excellent for a pre-shopping treat.

Fizz Friday, Tapas Tuesday, 5 O'Clock Cocktails, Set Menus, and 2 for 1s are just a few of the specials on offer.

Horticulture

Stepping into this quaint tiny bar tucked down a back alley off Pilgrim Street will transport you to a loft apartment that feels more New York than Newcastle upon Tyne!

You'll be greeted at a cosy bar on the main floor before making your way upstairs to the tiny restaurant, which specialises in small dishes served from an open kitchen. The Aviary is a function room on the top floor of Horticulture that is excellent for a private party or gathering.

The Purple Peacock

If you're looking for a bright and colourful bar, The Purple Peacock is undoubtedly the best place in the Toon for a martini. The bar and restaurant are the closest Newcastle have to a palace, with gold decorations, colourful pillars, and flower garlands, and if you need an excuse to dig out your tiara, here is it.

The drinks menu contains the expected champagne, wines, gins, and beers, but it's the cocktails that really stand out. We highly recommend you try the Purple Peacock, a speciality cocktail created with Ketel One Citroen, Port, Lemon Juice, Pineapple, and Blackcurrant and topped with a colourful peacock feather.
