Fresher's Guide To Middlesbrough

Britain has a long tradition of drinking at public pubs and taverns. Restaurants are great places to dine, socialise and celebrate. They can also be used for business meetings or just to let off steam. After the library, these places become like a second home for students since many of them include facilities that cater to their way of life. As a student, you come here during Freshers orientation and welcome week. So if you are staying with us at one of our Serviced Apartments in Middlesbrough, why not explore what the nightlife has to offer? We have gathered some of the best student spots below.

The Southfield

Southfield Road. Middlesbrough

The Dickens, The Star, and The Southfield are three pubs on campus in addition to the Students' Union in the Teesside University area. The Southfield is the best and most popular of the three. You can choose from a wide range of international and craft beers and spirits, including handmade flavoured vodka, as well as wines and champagnes.

Swatters Carr

Linthorpe Road. Middlesbrough

In the United Kingdom, JD Wetherspoon is the largest pub chain, also known as 'Spoons' to locals. This is because they have a wide selection of inexpensive beverages and meals. There are two in Middlesbrough: Swatters Carr and Lloyds the Resolution. Because it is so close to the Teesside University campus, Swatters Carr is a better option for students. A great place to start the weekend.

Twisted Lip

Baker Street, Middlesbrough

Baker Street (and Bedford Street) are just a few blocks away from Middlesbrough University's Middlesbrough Tower. Among others, Baker Street is home to Rafferty's, Sherlock's, Slater's Pick, and Twisted Lip. These pubs are highly specialised, contemporary, and hip and have an entirely different vibe than chain pubs. In addition to hosting open mics, quizzes, and concerts, Twisted Lip is the largest and most popular of the Baker Street pubs.

A wide variety of domestic and international genuine ales, lagers and ciders are also available. Twisted Lip is more costly than your average chain pub when it comes to drinks, but for the superior quality atmosphere and aesthetics.

Infant Hercules

Grange Road, Middlesbrough

Infant Hercules is one of Middlesbrough's many micro-pubs and is conveniently located next to the Tea House. Devil's Advocate is closer to the University on Borough Road, but Infant Hercules has an excellent reputation. As well as offering a wide range of authentic ales, the pub is considered to be quite hospitable to all. In addition to beer, the bar has sponsored gin and nibbles events as well.

O'Connell's

Bedford Street, Middlesbrough

O'Connell's is a traditional-style bar at the end of Bedford Street. O'Connell's has to compete with the swankier Chairman and Nuthatch on the same street, which are both modern and upscale restaurants. There is live music every Saturday, a superb culinary selection, and Middlesbrough's greatest Sunday roasts. Its largest event of the year is St Patrick's Day, so keep an eye out for it then.
