Here's our comprehensive guide to the city's top nightlife attractions.

Bird & Bear

The amazing design of Bird & Bear, which features indigo walls, copper piping, floor-to-ceiling vegetation, and gorgeous birdcages, attracts visitors from mies around. The menu, which includes boozy milkshakes and Instagrammable drinks, is meant to be enjoyed at any time of day, displaying the bar's meticulous attention to detail. If you're looking for a relaxed, low-key atmosphere, this is the place to go.

Draffens

Draffens is a speakeasy in the Roaring Twenties style bar. It has grown too popular to remain Dundee's secret since its debut in 2017, yet it nevertheless retains an appealing vibe hidden inside Couttie's Wynd and characterised by a solitary lamp. The pub's name was inspired by the Draffens of Dundee department store, which was a high-street institution for over 150 years before closing in the early 1980s. With its burgundy and dark green colour palette, exposed brick walls, and soft patterned carpets, Draffens the pub offers a similar old-timey atmosphere.

Abandon Ship

Abandon Ship is an American-style bar. The outside of teh bar was painted by renowned Australian artist Steen Jones, while the inside walls are covered in Richard Davies' hand-drawn artwork, which spans 70 square metres (753 square feet). There are more than 70 craft beers on tap, as well as a few premium cocktails. At the bar, you can get custom-made clothing that you won't find anywhere else. On the menu, you'll find traditional pub meals as well as a large number of vegan options.

The King of Islington

The King of Islington, Scotland's premier rum bar, is now open for business! At the Scottish Licensed Trade News (SLTN) Awards in 2018, The King of Islington was crowned Rum Bar of the Year by the publication. There are 120 rums on display from throughout the world, as well as bottles that are no longer available for purchase. When to visit this bar, you'll not be able to shake off the feeling of exclusivity.

The Blue Room

The Blue Room is one of Dundee's newest venues, having debuted in June of this year. It's an amaro and aperitivo bar, the Italian way. They provide charcuterie dishes, cheeses, and meats, as well as wine and beer, during traditional aperitivo hours. It offers an intimate setting with 35 tables and is located in the same building as Draffens speakeasy bar. The building's blue walls are complemented with white marble tabletops and old-fashioned floor-to-ceiling windows.
