Beautiful Places To Visit In Middlesbrough

Apart from shopping, Middlesbrough boasts a plethora of wonderful hidden gem places for family outings. From museums to parks to woods and wildlife preserves, there is something for everyone. If you are staying at our serviced apartments located on the River Tees, the town is just five kilometres from Teesport, England's third-largest port, then have a look at what exciting places there are for you to explore.

RSPB Saltholm Wildlife Park

Saltholme is an excellent location to start if you're new to birdwatching. A helpful visitor's centre, hides and screens allow you to get up close to water rail, yellow wagtails, and terns, as well as a family exploration zone, café, play area, and accessible paths, are all available in these family-friendly wetlands.

Four animal watching hides, as well as viewing screens and the visitor centre's viewing gallery, allow you to get up close and personal with the wildlife that calls Saltholme home. From early spring to mid-summer, all plants and flowers bloom in the walled garden, are designed by celebrity gardener Chris Beardshaw.

Stewart Park

Stewart Park is 120 acres in size and has mature woodland and botanical gardens on the southern side and open parkland on the northern side. It is also home to two sets of lakes, and there's an animal petting section featuring fallow deer, highland cattle, llamas, and goats, among other tame farm animals.

A new children's play area, a trim path, outdoor table tennis, and mini-golf are now available at the park, along with nature, history, orienteering, and tree paths.

Captain Cook Birthplace Museum

The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum is situated in a purpose-built structure beside the granite urn commemorating Cook's birthplace home in Marton's Stewart Park.

Captain Cook, the world's most renowned navigator, is honoured at the museum, which conveys his narrative through thematic display galleries, temporary exhibitions, related activities and events, and a vibrant education programme.

The Discovery Room (education and activities), the Endeavour Room (meetings and events), the Resolution Resources Room (archive and research), a gift/book shop, and a café are all accessible to people with disabilities.
