A spectacular Evening of Fashion for The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity 22nd March 2019

Dream Apartments Belfast is proud to be working with The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity as the official charity sponsor for their latest fundraising initiative – An Evening of Fashion.

Within the surroundings of The Titanic Hotel, Belfast, the evening will commence at 6.30pm with a sparkling wine reception and canapes for guests ahead of moving into The Drawing Room at 7.30pm for a vibrant, hour long fashion show of the key Spring/Summer 2019 trends. Our host for the evening is the local social media star, style guru and Cool FM presenter, Rebecca McKinney, who will be compere and host the raffle.
Additionally, the evening will include a male styling segment carried out by Chris Suitor of Suitor Bros.
Invites for the event will be distributed to over 2,000 industry professionals, in addition to BDO NI staff and friends and family. The Drawing Room at the Titanic has a maximum audience of 220 attendees.
Whilst the event promises to be a relaxed, fun and enjoyable evening, the underlying aim is to fundraise as much as possible for this exceptionally, worthy cause.

About the Charity
The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity exists solely to support the work of the Children’s Cancer and Haematology Unit at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and their families.
The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity is a registered charity and depends on donations from supporters. All the funds raised are used to care for children in the province who suffer with all forms of childhood cancer and selected benign haematological conditions. Administration costs are kept to the bare minimum.

Maritime Mile starts at Obel Tower

Objects along the stretch known as Maritime Mile, just outside Obel Tower Belfast are ‘waking up’, and anyone with a mobile phone can strike up a conversation and hear what they have to say!

Starting at the Big Fish at Donegall Quay, people will be able to interact by text with a range of well-known maritime landmarks, finishing at the HMS Caroline at Alexandra Dock. Key ‘objects’ include:

  • Big Fish
  • Belfast Harbour
  • SS Nomadic
  • Titanic Belfast
  • The Great Light
  • HMS Caroline

The project aims engage both visitors and residents of the city to learn more about the notable landmarks that are located along the scenic riverside stretch, as well as have some fun.

‘Hello Maritime Mile’ is a pilot ‘Smart Cities’ project between Belfast City Council, Titanic Foundation, Tourism NI, Ulster University and Hello Lamp Post. It will run for six weeks until St Patrick’s Day (17 March). See our St Patrick’s Day events.

There’s not long left to apply for the 2019 Great North Run through the ballot

When is the deadline to apply for the Great North Run general ballot?

Anyone interested in applying for a Great North Run place through the ballot must do so by 12 noon on Monday, February 4.

To apply, click here.

It allows runners to apply for a race place, without having to raise money for charity (although they are still free to fundraise if they wish to).

It costs £56 to enter the Great North Run, Newcastle through the ballot. You will only be charged if you get a place, although you have to submit card details with your application.

When and how will I find out if I’ve got a place?

Applicants will receive and email on or before Friday, February 8, to confirm whether or not they have a Great North Run place.

When is the 2019 Great North Run?

This year’s half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields takes place on Sunday, September 8.
